Santa Fe Indian Market is the largest and most prestigious juried Native arts show in the world and the largest cultural event in the Southwest. With its inception dating back to 1922, it now draws over 1,100 Native artists from the U.S. and Canada, and some 150,000 visitors from all over the world. Buyers, collectors, and gallery owners all appreciate the unique opportunity, not only to buy artwork directly from the artists but to learn more about traditional and contemporary Indian arts and culture.

This year, Sorrel Sky Gallery is hosting two shows during the 98th Indian Market. In addition, a studio space will be set aside for several of the gallery artists, creating a dynamic, interactive experience for visitors and collectors. Both shows and artist demonstrations will all be at the gallery’s downtown location, 125 W. Palace Ave.

On August 15, 2019, the Native American Group Show will open with an artist reception from 5-7:30 pm showcasing all of the gallery’s Native American artists, including Ben Nighthorse, Ray Tracey, Kevin Red Star, and Cody Sanderson along with many others. These four legendary artists will be signing specialty posters and answering questions about their work. This is a special opportunity to meet the gallery’s many Native American artists in person and hear about their inspiration and techniques. This exhibition will continue through August 31.

On August 16, 2019, the All Inclusive Group Show will open with an artist reception from 5-7:30 pm. This show features the gallery’s full cadre of varied and diverse artists. Many will be attending, providing the opportunity to discuss their work, process, and artistry. Join us as Star Liana York develops a sculpture and Maura Allen gives a kiln-glass demonstration. This active, creative environment will provide a window into how an artist develops a new piece. The exhibition will continue through August 31.
